Although hair loss may seem more prominent in men, women are nearly as likely to lose, or have thinning hair as they age. Most women notice it in their 50s or 60s, but it can happen at any age and for a variety of reasons. How well hair grows is a result of what is happening inside your body. Things that interfere with typical growth cycles —like medications, illness, infection, or chemicals—have the potential to stop hair from being properly formed.

There is also a wide range of conditions that can bring on hair loss. Some of the most common indicators being pregnancy, thyroid disorders and anemia. Others include autoimmune diseases, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and skin conditions such as psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis. Other reasons for hair loss include extreme stress: physical trauma like surgery or intense illness; dramatic weight loss over a short period of time; and taking too much Vitamin A. Hair loss can occur a couple of weeks to six months after any of these experiences.

Luckily, for most of these issues, the hair grows back or the loss can be reversed with medical treatments. It’s important to see a dermatologist or endocrinologist to determine and treat the issue(s).

Meanwhile, for those women whose thinning hair is causing more stress or causing self-image damage, there is a solution! It’s called Hairdreams Volume + . This method includes Hairdreams Laserbeamer Nano and Hairdreams MicroLines.

Statement Bangs!

In 2015, the shaggy, textured, lob dominated. Pink hair was seen on the heads of both celebs and civilians. “Bronde,” had another moment in the spotlight.  Ombre and Granny-Grey appeared, as did sunset hair. Also, ornate and artistic braids were a big hit.  What lies in store for 2016 is exciting for women, and in my blogs, I’ll  be sharing some of these wonderfully-anticipated ideas and looks in order for you to achieve your most flattering look.

In 2016, hair trends will become more specialized.  Specifically, cuts, colors, and styles will evolve into hair art.  The Spring 2016 runway was taken over by models with Statement Bangs, as seen in the Saint Laurent and Alexander Wang shows. This look works for those with curly or straight hair at any length and it’s an easy way to get a new look without excessive change.

If you want bangs and your hair is straight, you can work a more traditional version of the look, no problem. But curly girls don’t have to be beholden to their hot tools. Textured fringe is in. It’s completely subverting what having bangs means and it’s a sexy way to embrace your texture and add a cool-girl element.

The trick to making sure your curly fringe looks good is to not actually cut it like a bang section. Communicating with a salon professional that you want to wear your bangs in your natural hair texture is of most importance and will allow the most flattering look.

Before cutting Statement Bangs, ask yourself some questions:

1. Are you itching for a change, but you’re not ready to lose any precious length off of your strands?

2. Do you think your face looks better when your hair is down or in a ponytail? Tucked behind your ears? Or untucked? If you said ponytail or tucked, go for it. Ponytails and tucked hairstyles expose the corners of your face (cheekbones and corners of your jaw), as do broad, brow-lengths.

3. Are you athletic? Work in the food-service industry? Busy mom? Nothing turns a “blah” ponytail   into a chic fashion statement like a heavy fringe.

4. Do you have fine/thinning hair or deep recession points in your hairline? Two words-Instant volume!

On the other hand, if you  have a finicky or prominent hairline or cowlicks be warned. Avoid bangs with a blunt edge. Instead, opt for more of a “shattered” edge to camouflage any hairline discrepancies.  Also, the heavier, the better. Some cowlicks just need a little-added weight to stay down.  If you’re not into the maintenance of bang-trims every 2-4 weeks, don’t attempt to  wear them. If you  have a low hairline, a heavy fringe  on a low hairline may lead to more styling difficulties than it’s worth. Instead, try longer, side-swept bangs or a high face frame that can easily be pulled back if needed.

If you can’t decide to cut and want to take “baby steps”, don’t cut! Statement Bangs are an all or nothing kind of deal. Attempting something in-between or starting with a thin layer of bangs may result in something more matronly than chic.

Remember,  when in doubt, consult, consult, consult!   A salon professional can help you determine what your best options are, what to expect, and how to achieve your desired results safely and effectively.

Here’s to 2016, a year of fabulous and exciting hair!

When the month of October is mentioned, the first thing that usually pops into one’s mind is Halloween!

Halloween, which is also known as All Hallows’ Eve, is a yearly celebration observed in many countries on October 31, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day.  It begins the three-day observance of Allhallowtide, the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs and all the faithful departed believers whose souls have yet to reach heaven.

Today our society celebrates Halloween entirely different.  When we think of Halloween, we conjure-up the idea of vampires, monsters, ghosts, skeletons, witches and devils.  All can be pretty scary and, unfortunately, have something in common with the aforementioned.  SCARY HAIR!

Summertime can take a toll on our hair.  Sun, salt and chlorinated water, high-lift tints and bleach for that natural-blonde look can leave our hair looking dry, dull and lifeless.  That’s scary as well.  With the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays just around the corner,  it’s nice to enter into the festive season with great hair!

Cutting many inches off of your hair is a viable option.  Afraid to go shorter? Go for it!  A shorter look may be just what is needed for that fresh holiday hair.  Want healthy hair, but like your length? Be daring and cut off all the unhealthy ends to achieve frizz-free hair.  After all of the broken and damaged ends are cut, attach hair extensions.  Extensions are the fastest and easiest way to get your hair long again without waiting for it to grow back.

Hairdreams Hair Creations hair extensions manufactures top-quality hair with bonds made of crystal polymer.  This means after months of wear, your extensions will look beautiful and shiny without any damage.  In fact, after removal your own hair will not only be in an excellent condition (the extension actually wraps around your hair and protects it), but longer as well.  With the Laserbeamer Nano technique by Hairdreams, you can have your new look in a couple of hours from start to finish. There’s nothing frightening about that!

Why go through the holidays with scary hair?  Buy professional-quality, sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, lop-off those 2-3 inches damaged ends and try premium quality hair extensions by Hairdreams and Lori Veltri.  BOO!
