Statement Bangs!

In 2015, the shaggy, textured, lob dominated. Pink hair was seen on the heads of both celebs and civilians. “Bronde,” had another moment in the spotlight.  Ombre and Granny-Grey appeared, as did sunset hair. Also, ornate and artistic braids were a big hit.  What lies in store for 2016 is exciting for women, and in my blogs, I’ll  be sharing some of these wonderfully-anticipated ideas and looks in order for you to achieve your most flattering look.

In 2016, hair trends will become more specialized.  Specifically, cuts, colors, and styles will evolve into hair art.  The Spring 2016 runway was taken over by models with Statement Bangs, as seen in the Saint Laurent and Alexander Wang shows. This look works for those with curly or straight hair at any length and it’s an easy way to get a new look without excessive change.

If you want bangs and your hair is straight, you can work a more traditional version of the look, no problem. But curly girls don’t have to be beholden to their hot tools. Textured fringe is in. It’s completely subverting what having bangs means and it’s a sexy way to embrace your texture and add a cool-girl element.

The trick to making sure your curly fringe looks good is to not actually cut it like a bang section. Communicating with a salon professional that you want to wear your bangs in your natural hair texture is of most importance and will allow the most flattering look.

Before cutting Statement Bangs, ask yourself some questions:

1. Are you itching for a change, but you’re not ready to lose any precious length off of your strands?

2. Do you think your face looks better when your hair is down or in a ponytail? Tucked behind your ears? Or untucked? If you said ponytail or tucked, go for it. Ponytails and tucked hairstyles expose the corners of your face (cheekbones and corners of your jaw), as do broad, brow-lengths.

3. Are you athletic? Work in the food-service industry? Busy mom? Nothing turns a “blah” ponytail   into a chic fashion statement like a heavy fringe.

4. Do you have fine/thinning hair or deep recession points in your hairline? Two words-Instant volume!

On the other hand, if you  have a finicky or prominent hairline or cowlicks be warned. Avoid bangs with a blunt edge. Instead, opt for more of a “shattered” edge to camouflage any hairline discrepancies.  Also, the heavier, the better. Some cowlicks just need a little-added weight to stay down.  If you’re not into the maintenance of bang-trims every 2-4 weeks, don’t attempt to  wear them. If you  have a low hairline, a heavy fringe  on a low hairline may lead to more styling difficulties than it’s worth. Instead, try longer, side-swept bangs or a high face frame that can easily be pulled back if needed.

If you can’t decide to cut and want to take “baby steps”, don’t cut! Statement Bangs are an all or nothing kind of deal. Attempting something in-between or starting with a thin layer of bangs may result in something more matronly than chic.

Remember,  when in doubt, consult, consult, consult!   A salon professional can help you determine what your best options are, what to expect, and how to achieve your desired results safely and effectively.

Here’s to 2016, a year of fabulous and exciting hair!

Celebrities Get Hair Extensions for a Number of Reasons.

Actors who play different roles with different looks need to transform themselves quickly.  Typically, their hair can take a beating with all the chemicals used on it.  Bleaching, coloring and bleaching again make it impossible to keep their hair healthy and long.  Many just cut their hair short and have hair extensions installed to solve their problem.  They can quickly have long hair in a completely different color, have bangs without having to cut them into their hair or have a highlighted look without any chemicals.  The transformation is seamless. Also, celebrities are the first people we observe with a new style or trend.  Celebrities are in the “lime-light” and need to constantly look their best.  Hair extensions help to make that possible.

Flawless Hair Extensions with Great Lengths or Hairdreams.

Have you noticed someone’s extensions when a strong wind gusts through their hair?  Has someone in your pilates class hung their head upside down and the extensions are clearly visible?   Top quality hair extensions are natural and undetectable.   You can brush them from the root and braid them. Also, they can be tied in a ponytail un-noticeably.

Great Lengths and Hairdreams carry the highest quality hair that is available. They are either minimally-processed Indian hair or unprocessed European hair. They are composed of 100% human hair with bonds that are made of either keratin(Great Lengths) or crystal polymer(Hairdreams Hair Creations or Laserbeamer Nano) and the removal process is safe and easy.

The Speed of Hair Extensions.

The best news is now premium hair extensions don’t require hours to install. With Hairdreams Laserbeamer Nano, a full head of luxurious hair can take around one hour. They can last 4-6 months with little maintenance and leave no breakage or damage when removed. In fact, high-quality hair extensions can actually HELP you grow your hair long while protecting your own hair.
